Atmospheric carbonation concrete

I want to simulate the atmospheric carbonation of concrete. I havethe volumetric amount of each mineral phase (Portlandite, CSH, etc) that compose the initial wall of concrete.
When using realistic values for the carbonation simulation, the simulation time is quite large (weekly), since the transport process is slow and the simulation is for hundred years. I am wondering which consequences can have to reduce the amount of each mineral, respecting always its volumetric percentage.
Thank you for your help

You could use a shorter column. Also, I think there are some equations you might be able to use for the rates of propagation of wave fronts in Appelo and Postma, Geochemistry, Groundwater and Pollution.
