Calcite kinetics

Hey all,
I have no real chemistry background though I wanted to model some calcite kinetics. The first thing I bumped against was the parms, what is parms(2) in the case of calcite? I understand it is the exponent for m/m0 however I do not understand what it is physically. I looked it up in the manual however, I still do not know what it is and what it's value might be in my setup. Anyone care to elaborate or link me to a site where it is explained?

It is part of the "shrinking core model" for the evolution of surface area as the size of particles decreases.
