Mean GAM question
« on: 31/01/24 12:18 »
Dear All

I am trying to simulate NaOH = Na[+] + OH[-]. My question is that Pitzer.dat does not contain the reaction, I can only see NaOH in Mean GAM section. does this mean that NaOH is completly soluble ? No need for K_eq ?

Many thanks,

Ilias.

The Mean GAM section of pitzer.dat has no function. It is a relict from the program PHRQPITZ that was never implement

NaOH is extremely soluble. A quick web search gives a solubility of 1000g/L, which is about 25 molal. This concentration is beyond the limits of PHREEQC.

It is possible to generate NaOH solution of lesser concentration. This script makes a 1 molal solution:

Code: [Select]
SOLUTION
REACTION 1
NaOH 1
1 mol
END
