Fail to access Graphical User Interfaces
qindw:
Dear all,
I have installed Graphical User Interfaces phreeqci-3.7.3-15968.msi. Then I created a pqi document with a solution model (Temperature 320, Na 10 mmol/kgw, Cl 10 mmol/kgw(charge)). I run it with the database "PHREEQC_SIT_e-_ThermoChimie_v11a". It has shown some warning but it was executable. However, the user interfaces started to freeze and PHREEQC quitted itself automatically. I tried to restart PHREEQC but it seemed to be blocked by the pqi document. Then I deleted the pqi but I couldn't access Graphical User Interfaces again. So I uninstalled then reinstalled the software for several times. However, the problem could be solved. All I can see now it's the picture with "USGS--science for a changing word" after I start PHREEQC.
So here is my problem. I'm look forward to your advices and helps. Thanks for your attentions and helps.
Best regards,
qindw

I think one of your system DLLs has gotten corrupted. Let me look into it. By the way what version of Windows are you using?

Hi qindw,
I'm still researching the problem. In the meantime, you could try the following:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/using-system-file-checker-in-windows-365e0031-36b1-6031-f804-8fd86e0ef4ca
assuming you're running Windows 10 or 11.

dlparkhurst:
Did your run generate a very large output file? PhreeqcI runs the simulation and then imports the output file. If the file is very large it could take a long time (minutes), and conceivably use all the memory, which would cause a failure.
In-Ho Yoon:
I'm experiencing the exact same error as described in the original post.
I've tried all the suggested steps regarding potentially corrupted DLLs, but the issue remains unresolved.
Has anyone managed to find a solution to this problem?
This conveys that you've encountered the same issue, followed the advice about DLLs, but are still seeking a resolution.
It also asks if anyone has successfully solved the problem since the original discussion.
Let me know if you'd like me to modify or expand the response in any way.
