Reading PHREEQC database with PHT3D through PMWIN?
« on: February 10, 2020, 12:51:10 PM »
Dear all,

I am using PHT3D for my simulations (Phreeqc coupled to MT3DMS (MODFLOW)), through the PMWIN interface. With PMWIN one can select the PHREEQC database that PHT3D will read. In my version of PMWIN the selection is limited to the standard phreeqc database and those used for the examples in the manual.
Is there anyone who knows how I could select my own database?

Many thanks in advance,
Sue

I haven't fought with PHT3D in a long time, and not through PMWIN at all, so this is just a brute force suggestion.  If the PHREEQC.dat database name is hard wired deep into some part of the code code, you could trick it by renaming your selected database as PHREEQC.dat,  and move or rename the original PHREEQC.dat database into something else, in case you need it again.

Hi John,

thanks a lot for your suggestion.
I figured it out: Indeed in the original SIMCORE folder installed on your computer, in the pht3d database folder, you can add a pht3d_datab and an associated pmwin_pht3d file. Then in the text file pht3d_module_definition, you can increase the number of modules and refer to the two new database files you created. The back in the pht3d interface when selecting databases, your new one will appear as one of the options :)

Cheers!
