Input to RATES block
« on: 06/10/14 18:43 »
Hello

I have a question about the input of a rate in the RATES block. Is the rate always integrated (ea it always needs to be in the form of an differential equation) or can the rate be defined to only be dependent on time. The reason for this is I want to use the TRANSPORT block (reactive), but I want to have a function f(t) that changes quantities in the cells over time. I have thought of using the REACT block but I do not think it can be recalled in the TRANSPORT block, is this true?

Kind regards
Nicolaus

I don't think you can recover incremental changes in REACTION; there is a RXN function, but I think it would be the reaction for the entire reaction/time step.

RATES is evalutated many times at sub time steps relative to the complete time step defined by the KINETICS -steps or the TRANSPORT time step. The current time for each sub time step is available from the basic function TOTAL_TIME. It should be possible to develop a rate that is a function of the current time (TOTAL_TIME). The length of the current sub time step is TIME.
