Database errors "WARNING: Unknown input, no keyword has been specified."
« on: June 11, 2019, 08:47:44 AM »
Hello all!
I've just started dipping my toes into PhreeqC (i'm on version 2.18 because it's the oly one authorised by our IT service) and have started running some simple simulations.

However, i seem to be coming across an error that i cannot easily understand (or find a solution to, using google) so i was hoping that someone here may be able to nudge me in the right direction.

So, the simulation is relatively simple:

-------------------------------------
TITLE example of bob
SOLUTION 1 bob
pH 0
temp 25.0
Pu(+3) 100
INCREMENTAL_REACTIONS true
REACTION
HNO3
1 mole in 50 steps
SELECTED_OUTPUT
 -file bob.csv
 -molalities Pu+3 Pu+4 Pu(NO3)+2 Pu(NO3)+3
 -reaction true
END
---------------------------------------

Now, what happens is that when i run the simulation with the sit database " ThermoChimie v.7.b" from either the .dat or .txt files, the simulation has no problem.

However, if i run the same simulation using the "Thermochimie v9b0" database the following error appears (the simulation still completes without further problems).

"WARNING: Unknown input, no keyword has been specified."

My current understanding is that the second simulation is probably still valid (although confirmation would be appreciated). Nonetheless, the error confuses me.

As it seems to be a database related error, i tried making a new text file with the text from the " ThermoChimie v.7.b" file (i just copied and pasted all the lines of text using notepad ++ ).To my surprise this new file also makes my simulations come up with the same warning message!

As such i am now stumped. I would guess that there is something in the files that notepad++ isn't transferring over during the copy/paste but as to what exactly this is, i wouldn't know.

Of course, this also seems to indicate that notepad ++ may not be the best program to edit database files, do other users here edit using notepad ++ or is there another prefered program for database modification?

- I tried running your file in version 3.4.0.12927 with the associated sit.dat database (which is the "Thermochimie v9b0") - that doesn't lead to a warning.
I haven't had problems using Notepad++ , I tried copying the entire "ThermoChimie v.7.b" database from PHREEQC to Notepad++ - saved it and loaded it into PHREEQC - and ran again - no warnings. So - it doesn't seem Notepad++ is the problem.
