Title: example 9
Post by: rimsi on September 06, 2017, 06:44:02 AM
In the example 9, Kinetic Oxidation of dissolved Ferrous iron with Oxygen , I did not understand why the new elements Fe_di and Fe_tri are defined ? They have the same reactions and rate constants as Fe(2) and Fe(3) defined in the database, then why to define them again ??

All redox states of Fe react to equilibrium, so it is not possible to have kinetic reactions among these redox states. Only when they are defined as separate "elements" can the two states exist in disequilibrium.
